Location and Facilities
Horowhenua College is located in Levin, the main town in the Horowhenua district. Its size and position have many advantages:
- 11â„2 hours from the capital city of Wellington
- The biggest College in Levin with 800 - 900 students and excellent facilities
- Near cities, but without the distractions of city life
Academic Programme
We think our most important role is to provide students with the best possible qualifications they can gain. Horowhenua College offers:
- A full range of academic courses leading to National qualifications and entry to all New Zealand universities
- An emphasis on academic excellence with a record of strong student academic performance
- Students from Horowhenua College do very well at University and perform well above the national average. This year High Achiever Awards at University were given in the subjects of Law, Music, Accounting, Architecture, Science and Mathematics to former Horowhenua College students.
- Students seeking a Kiwi cultural experience can enjoy a wide variety of College activities and out of school trips.

Student Welfare / Support
The college has a Dean of International Students working on site fulltime. This person co-ordinates the care for students by class teachers, a tutor teacher responsible for pastoral care, the homestay co-ordinator and ESOL teacher.
The College has a proud record of caring for all its students specifically mentioned in the Government review of the school (www.ero.govt.nz)
Accommodation
All of our students are in homestay accommodation which is usually organised by the school's Homestay Co-ordinator. Homestays are carefully selected to make sure students have an enjoyable experience in our school's community.
English Language Support
The school provides an ESOL programme for international students. A Foundation Course is offered for students arriving in the second half of the year.
Extra Curricular Programmes
The Dean of International Students organises some social events for International students and homestay families. In addition the school has an extensive range of sports ( teams in 24 different sports) , cultural groups and clubs on offer.
